Simeone to quit Atletico this summer
Atletico Madrid boss, Diego Simeone is said to have informed the club’s CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin that he will be leaving this summer.
Since taking over as manager of the Red and Whites in 2011, he has had a hugely successful career, winning two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup, two Europa League medals, and two UEFA Super Cups.

Simeone has guided Atletico to two Champions League finals, with the capital giants losing to rivals Real Madrid in both 2014 and 2016.

The 52-year-old has a contract at Wanda Metropolitano until June 2024, but according to Paco Garcia, Simeone has informed the club that he will not be continuing in his role for the 2023-24 season.

“Simeone will not continue at Atleti in the coming season. He has told Gil Marin that he will leave,” Garcia told El Chiringuito.
Atletico Madrid lost 1-0 to Barcelona in La Liga on Sunday, dropping them to fifth place in the rankings with 27 points from their first 16 games.

The Madrid giants are now only three points ahead of eighth-placed Osasuna, 14 points behind champions Barcelona, and 11 points behind second-placed Real Madrid.
Atletico is still in the Copa del Rey, and the team will face Levante in the competition’s last-16 stage on January 18.

Since Simeone’s team finished last in their Champions League group, they will not play any European matches in the second campaign of the season.
Atletico earned only five points from their six Group B matches, finishing fourth behind Porto, Club Brugge, and Bayer Leverkusen.
