Google Maps discreetly eliminates a Queen’s cherished feature after her death

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, a charming and amusing feature of Google Maps that had previously paid tribute to the monarch was removed.

Prior to recently, when using the mapping service near Buckingham Palace to access Street View, a representation of the prestigious neighborhood the user was moving through would appear.

When a user engaged Street View near Buckingham Palace on the mapping service, the little Easter Egg feature would appear.

Since 2015, Google’s ichttp://PEGMANonic yellow “Pegman” that denoted Street View has changed into a cartoon image of the Queen.

Pegman would dress up as the monarch and wear a crown, earning him the adoring moniker “PegMa’am” from Google.
